Selling a home during the Fall season sets the perfect stage to make your guests fall in love!

Did you know "Today, September 22nd" marks the first day of the Fall season?
Whether you're looking to embrace the new season or are considering selling your home, this is the time of year to start making small changes around your home that you and your guests are sure to fall in love with.
As the temperature changes there is a crispness in the air and warm colors paint a living portrait around us. The leaves on the trees showcase their beautifully variegated bursts of new color in the five fabulous shades of fall... Greens, yellows, oranges, reds and browns that give us a warm fall backdrop and landscape.
Start harvesting the signs of autumn by making small changes around your home. Pack up the various signs of summer. Store pool toys and summer indoor and outdoor decor in storage. Now you're ready to set the stage with "ever so simple" touches that blend with the fall season and set the mood gracefully.
Just as mother nature makes changes to the outdoors, our homes should reflect some of those same changes in our decor, color and textures we use...

One of the first changes you can make that will greet your many guests is an elegant use of autumn color. Homes on the market should always have a natural color tone on the walls. These earth tone colors will create a warm and rich palate this time of season allowing your home to flow from the outside, in. Make your space inviting and people are sure to fall in love with it.
- You can do this by placing a simple swag draped on top of your mailbox.
- Welcome the season and your many guests with a bountiful wreath on the front door or gate.
- Refresh your pots with seasonal plants and flowers.
- Place a few simple fall reminders such as beautiful large leaves, squashes, pumpkins, pinecones and apples in places like your pots, a simple basket, large bowl, vase or platter with candles. Just a hint will make an eye-catching and pleasing focal piece.
Focus on your porch, patio, pots, living area, dining room and bathrooms. One of our best secrets when we're selling a house is to keep the eating areas set. Not only does this look beautiful, but staging a place that people gather reaches home for everyone... And it eliminates a "catch all" place making it desirable and easy to show.
We love to decorate for the seasons and holidays, but when selling, focusing your decorating on just the seasons is great for staging and it's welcoming to anyone. Simply gather a few things that will work from around the house and the outdoors to create your settings... Or give us a call for a free home staging consultation.

There's nothing better than creating a warm, cozy and inviting atmosphere this time of year, especially here in Oregon. As you focus on your fall palate, incorporate things that are going to come in handy this time of year. Make your bedrooms a retreat with warm colored bedding, an abundance of pillows, throws or quilts. Use items such as throws and accent pillows in the corner of your couch or chair and make it a space you and someone else will feel at home.
Simple solutions are all around you and embracing the changing seasons will create a space for you and your many guests to enjoy. Just as I found inspiration reading an article from a talented home stagger in California, you too can grab a magazine, design book, gather ideas from department stores or stop by one of our open houses, they're always staged to sell. If you're in the Sherwood Oregon area, check out Schlichting Century Farm, their country store is full of bargains and fall fun for the whole family.
If you plan on selling your home and are in need of a home value analysis and home staging consultation, we welcome your calls and the opportunity to share some of our great ideas and exclusive home marketing solutions with you. Working with Sherwood's preferred Realtors of choice has its advantages and we're sure you'll want to see what else we do!
